SI-TUFF™ SF-1 silicon carbide microfiber is a very high modulus rigid rod nanotube which is unbreakable at supplied lengths. It is used in high performance ceramic cutting tools and wear parts to dramatically enhance fracture toughness, abrasion and wear resistance, and dimensional stability. Composites reinforced with SI-TUFF™ exhibit optimum thermal dissipation and thermal shock resistance.
SF-1 has been processed using a special mechanical means to break up “bird’s nests” and other agglomerations to result in a highly homogenous powder. The resulting material is drop-in mixing capable and easily processed.
HTI also supplies engineered blends of SI-TUFF™ and high-purity aluminum oxide under the C-TUFF™ brand.
